Industrial Psychologist & EAP Trainer
Amy-Mbali Bands is a registered Industrial Psychologist in independent practice and a dedicated specialist in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP). Since 2020, she has combined her psychological expertise with her passion for nature-based healing, holding qualifications from both EAPISA and Impact Training (Level 1 – Advanced).
As your trainer for Equine Assisted Psychotherapy Level 1, Amy-Mbali is driven by a mission to bridge the gap between the modern world and the grounding power of the environment. She believes that because horses are naturally regulated, congruent, and relationally effective, they offer a profound mirror for human behavior.
Amy-Mbali’s approach focuses on:

Shelley Wolhuter
Equine Behaviour Specialist
Shelley Wolhuter brings a deep understanding of horse husbandry and partnership coaching to the training team. As an Equine Behaviour Specialist, she focuses on the vital synergy between horse and human, ensuring that the equine members of the team are respected as integrated, communicating partners in the therapeutic process.
Shelley and Amy-Mbali’s partnership was born out of a shared ethos and a natural connection during their own EAP training. Together, they offer a seamless blend of psychological insight and equine expertise. Shelley has personally integrated Amy into her own herd's environment, creating a cohesive and welcoming atmosphere for all trainees.
In the EAP Level 1 training space, Shelley’s primary goals are:
Safety & Integration: Creating a secure training environment where both attendees and horses feel safe, regulated, and valued.
The Horse as a Teacher: Shifting the perspective to view horses not as tools, but as team members who communicate a natural, grounded way of being.
Husbandry & Partnership: Coaching practitioners on how to build authentic rapport with horses to enhance the therapeutic experience.
