Refund policy
Get Psyched – Refund, Cancellation, and Dispute Policy
(Compliant with the South African Consumer Protection Act No. 68 of 2008)
At Get Psyched, we value your commitment to your personal growth and well-being. Because our professional sessions require dedicated preparation and allocation of time, we maintain a structured policy for cancellations, refunds, and payment disputes. By booking our services, you agree to the terms outlined below.
1. Cancellations & Rescheduling (CPA Section 17)
In accordance with Section 17 of the South African Consumer Protection Act, you have the right to cancel advance bookings. However, because a cancelled slot limits our ability to schedule other clients, Get Psyched applies a reasonable tiered cancellation charge based on the notice provided:
- 72 Hours or More Notice: You are eligible for a 100% refund or full credit toward a future session.
- 24 to 71 Hours Notice: You are eligible for a 50% refund (a 50% cancellation fee applies to cover administrative costs and reserved time).
- Less than 24 Hours Notice (or No Show): No refund will be issued (a 100% cancellation fee applies as it is highly unlikely the slot can be filled at such short notice).
Statutory Exceptions (Death or Hospitalisation)
In strict compliance with Section 17(5) of the CPA, no cancellation fee will be imposed, and a 100% refund or free rescheduling will be granted if you are unable to attend your session due to:
- The death of the person for whom the booking was made, or an immediate family member.
- The hospitalisation or severe, incapacitating illness/injury of the person for whom the booking was made.
If you experience an emergency, sudden accident, or statutory event listed above, please notify us as soon as you are safely able to do so so we can process your full refund.
2. E-Commerce & Cooling-Off Periods (ECTA)
Please note that while Section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA) allows for a 7-day cooling-off period for many online purchases, Section 42(2)(b) of ECTA explicitly excludes services that are unreservedly consumed on specific dates or times (such as scheduled appointments or live sessions). Therefore, cancellations are governed strictly by the tiered timeframe in Section 1 above.
3. Payment Processing & Refunds via Paystack
All payments on Get Psyched are securely processed through Paystack, our integrated payment gateway on Shopify.
- Refund Method: Approved refunds will be credited back via Paystack to the original payment method (credit/debit card, EFT, or bank account) used during checkout.
- Processing Time: Once we initiate a refund, it typically takes 3 to 10 business days to reflect in your South African bank account, depending on bank processing cycles.
- Transaction Fees: In line with local gateway operations, original processing fees charged by Paystack at checkout may be non-refundable.
4. Payment Disputes & Chargebacks
We are committed to resolving any billing issues or misunderstandings directly, transparently, and fairly.
· Contact Us First: If you spot an error with your billing, an accidental double charge, or an unauthorized transaction, please reach out to our support team immediately at abands@getpsyched.co.za.
- Dispute Escalation: Filing a formal chargeback or dispute with your bank before reaching out to us halts our internal refund capabilities. In the event of an unjustified chargeback (e.g., a client forcing a charge reversal through their bank for a cancellation falling outside the 24-hour window without a valid CPA statutory emergency), Get Psyched will submit this signed policy, booking timestamps, and correspondence to Paystack and the card issuer to legally contest the dispute.
5. How to Formally Request a Cancellation
To cancel a session or notify us of a medical/personal emergency, please:
1. Email us at abands@getpsyched.co.za with the subject line: Cancellation Request – Your Name/Booking Number.
- State the date and time of your scheduled session.
- If requesting an emergency 100% refund within the 72-hour window under CPA Section 17(5), please briefly state the nature of the hospitalisation or emergency so our team can process your waiver immediately.
This policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Last updated: June 11, 2026.
